The UN Youth Association of Romania is a NGO founded by students, whose main goals are to promote and encourage UN values and activities among the Romanian youth, the Romanian society, the regional and international community. To achieve these goals, UNYARo organizes conferences, seminars, workshops, debates and simulations of decision-making committees of the UN and other international institutions, such as NATO, the European Union or international courts of justice. The Association is also responsible for organizing the largest annual Model United Nations simulation in Romania – Bucharest International Student Model United Nations (BISMUN).
UNYARo is a member of the following networks: European Model United Nations Network (EMUNNET) – since 2009; Romanian Students Union (USR) – since 2010; United Nations Youth Association Network (UNYANET) – since 2012; International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS) – since 2013.
Originally founded as BISMUN Association in 2009 by students of the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, the members of the Association decided to change its name in May 2012 in order to better correlate its public identity to the extent of its objectives and activities. Currently, the Association has approximately 60 members in Bucharest and about 150members at a national level, through its regional branches:

The UN Youth Association of Romania has longstanding institutional partnerships with the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the University of Bucharest, the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest and the UN System in Romania and in the past has developed project-based partnerships with the Romanian Senate, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Central University Library „Carol I”, Academy of Economic Studies, Ronald S. Lauder Foundation, the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, Ecological University, University of the West, Transilvania University.
